Head on out and treat yourself to the April issue of Street Machine – available now! It’s headed up by the car that came, saw and conquered the Summernats 37 Elite Hall – Frank Zammit’s truly epic XW ute.

The beautifully engineered ute, powered by a stonking twin-turbo Windsor V8, won a bunch of tinware on debut at Australia’s biggest horsepower party, including Top Judged Elite. Check out the feature in the new mag and you’ll soon understand why.

On the topic of well-engineered twin-turbo street machines, Chevy fans will dig Nathan Marshall’s 1957 Chevrolet two-door post, loaded with a tough big-block, force-fed by a couple of snails. Destined for the rigours of drag-and-drive competition, the car’s many highlights include the tastiest stance you’re ever likely to come across.

Alan Robson’s LC Torana is built on a classy factory-improved theme, retaining the GTR warpaint with embiggened HQ GTS-style wheels, factory trim and a howling 355ci Holden V8.

Inspired by Mad Max, Nick Cini had a yearning to own a black XB coupe. This Boss 290-powered beast is the end result, with vastly improved underpinnings, three pedals, and mile-wide rear rubber.

Events-wise, this issue features coverage of two absolute crackers designed for people who like to drive their cars in anger – Optima Ultimate Street Car from Calder Park, and Powercruise 97 from sunny Queensland Raceway.

Arby has tracked down a belter of a car to feature in Urban Warfare this month – a turbo, all-paw Nissan with over 1000hp at the treads. It ain’t a GT-R, though – how’s about a turbo LS-powered short-wheelbase Nissan Patrol instead!

When you’re the current NDRC Nitro Funny Car champion and you want to build something tough to take to Summernats, chances are it’s going to be blown. Justin Walshe’s wicked VX Clubby is the result.

We also bring you features on a turbocharged LS-powered HT Kingswood, a tough pro street VC Valiant, all your favourite regulars and heaps more.
