We’re rounding out the year with an absolute belter of a mag – the 2024 Street Machine Yearbook! Resplendent on the cover is Dragos Bjelogrlic’s insane XE Fairmont Ghia ESP. Dragos has done an exceptional job of cramming the fire-breathing twin-turbo Windsor out of Joe Gauci’s six-second radial Cortina into a street car, all while retaining every inch of the XE’s 80s ESP cool factor.

If you dig squared-off 80s muscle cars but are more of the GM persuasion, there’s a fair chance Pete Bonassi’s mega-tough SHUTEM VK HDT tribute might float your boat. Powered by a thumping blown and injected small-block Chev and slammed over mile-wide rubber, it’s a treat for the senses.

The Colalillo name is synonymous with street machining and hot rodding in Australia, and this iconic pro street ’39 Plymouth is their family heirloom. It’s been in the family since 1977 and was famously campaigned by patriarch Mario as a Wild Bunch car for the street in the 90s. Now, Mario’s son Andy has revived it as a staunch street car in his memory, and is passing the passion on to his own son.

For something far more contemporary, we have a unique and exceptionally cool, Whipple-blown, Coyote-powered EL XR8 from WA. Despite the build being plagued by adversity, owner Callum Shand now has a 1000hp rocket at his disposal.

Darren Ison’s hand-me-down HT ute is so much more than first meets the eye. It’s immediately obvious that it’s a tough-looking streeter with a great stance, but the 355ci Holden-powered tilly boasts an impressive level of detail that has to be studied to be appreciated.

We don’t often feature mini-trucks, but when we do, they’re stand-out examples like Darryl Penton’s Summernats Top 60 Toyota HiLux. Powered by a blown quad-cam V8, it was already an icon of the Aussie mini-trucking scene before Darryl owned it, but he’s since added his own neat personal touch to it.

Owen Scott’s 600hp plastic-powered EH ute is a timeless street machine. Despite the PPG Wine Fine duco being 20 years old at the time, it romped into the Summernats Top 60 back in 2019 and still looks fresh as a daisy today!

We’ll also take you through all the thrills and spills of Street Machine Drag Challenge 2024 and our inaugural Rods Out skid comps, treat you to a Street Machine of the Year history lesson, and get you keen and ready for Street Machine Summernats 37 with our annual ’Nats Survival Guide.
