Street Machine August 2026 issue on sale now!

It’s time for the August 2026 issue of Street Machine to hit the shelves! Here’s what’s
in store.
This month’s cover explodes out the blocks with the blown and injected Monaro of
Angus Pirotta. Built by Sydney’s ProFlo Performance, the bright orange HG makes a
definite statement with its in-the-weeds stance and supercharged, 400ci small-block.
It’s a Top 20 Elite-spec machine that anyone would be proud to have in their shed.
Of course, with a Holden on the cover, there has to be a Ford not too far behind, and
Andreas Sdrolias’s XB coupe is packing an 830hp, naturally aspirated small-block
Ford with a six-speed manual transmission. It’s a real driver’s car, and it’s looking to
hit the nine-second zone without turbos, nitrous or a blower.
For the Mopar fans, we’ve got Dave Johnson’s 1968 Road Runner, which hides a
storming, 508ci big-block Chrysler donk under that blacked-out bonnet. Classic
muscle cars don’t come much better than this, and we reckon this eye-searing beast
will create a whole new generation of Pentastar loyalists.
We also head to northern New South Wales to check out the Blacktop Outlaws
Festival, a no-prep drag racing event at the Casino airstrip, which saw 130 cars face
off across six classes in a heads-up battle for trophies and prize money. Big crowds;
killer cars – and we were there to capture all the action across 10 pages. Check it
out!
Talking about massive features, we also got an eight-page story on Anna Povey’s
turbo diesel-powered VL wagon. Don’t be fooled by the stock-appearing exterior with
its sedate white paint; this is a show-quality build with more grunt than a piggery, and
Anna’s looking to run serious numbers down the strip. Take a look and you’ll see
why we devoted so many pages to this amazing car.
The first week of June was a big one for recent Queensland transplant Telfo, who
somehow managed to take in both the 2026 Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway
and the multi-day Cooly Rocks On nostalgia fest on the Gold Coast. The 58th
Winters was packed with record-breaking passes in front of a massive crowd, while

Cooly brought classic pre-1985 cars together with vintage fashion, non-stop live
music and breezy beachside vibes. If you’ve never been to either, don’t worry – we
have full coverage of both events in the August mag, but make sure you book your
tickets for next year to check them out for yourself!
If you like your cars to go around corners, then we’ve got a treat from across the
Tasman Sea. This wild pro-touring Camaro from New Zealand rocks a big-block
Chev and a whole lot of attitude, packed with insane body mods and a level of fit and
finish that has to be seen to be believed.
We also say farewell to two legends of the sport in Larry Ormsby and David Bowden,
both of whom passed away in June. Larry had a seismic influence on Australian drag
racing both on the track and behind the scenes, while David was singlehandedly
responsible for saving and preserving countless Aussie race cars that would
otherwise have been lost to time. Telfo looks back at their achievements and the
indelible mark they both left on our sport.
If you haven’t had your fill of Holden wagons, there’s also Andrew Brady’s HQ, which
is as neat as they come and stuffed full of 582 cubes’ worth of Dart big-block Chev.
Honestly, once you check out Anna’s VL and Andrew’s Quey in this month’s mag,
you’ll be searching Facebook Marketplace for a new longroof project car – they’re
just so damn versatile!
And all that’s just to get you started. We’ve also got a 16-year-old burnout Young
Gun from Florida; Arby takes a deep dive into Pete Lovering’s ’55 Chev
doorslammer; there’s a really neat-looking ’50 Chev pick-up with a stroked and
’rammed big-block in our In The Build section; and right up the back, we’ve got a BG
Engines-built, nitrous-sniffing small-block Chev making over 1100hp as our Mill of
the Month.
It’s an absolutely massive month of horsepower and chrome in the August issue of
Street Machine, so head down to the supermarket and grab your copy now!
