Frank Darmanin’s PROGM8 VH Commodore was pretty spiffy before he pulled it apart for a rebuild, and now it’s epic. Every square inch of it is finished to absolute perfection, and it packs a screaming, 8000rpm, 900hp all-motor LS combo. Could it be Australia’s best show-and-go Commodore?

Joel Beatson’s beautifully styled XP sedan delivery oozes cool and has the herbs to back it up, rocking a ProCharger-fed 363ci Dart Windsor.

But if horsepower is your thing, you’re sure to enjoy Chris Retzos’s ’69 Dodge Coronet R/T. Packed with engineering smarts, it’s motivated by a stonking Nelson Racing Engines twin-turbo Hemi that produces 2000hp while remaining perfectly streetable.

Inspired by a long-lost pano from his youth, Peter Marriott built a delightfully old-school HK sin-bin, featuring a tunnel-rammed small-block, Center Line Auto Drags and retina-searing candy green paint.

At first glance, you could be excused for thinking we’ve gone and featured a bone-stock ’57 Chevy Nomad, but looks can be deceiving. John McCoy-Lancaster’s beautifully executed resto-mod wagon is a masterclass in taste and restraint, with an expertly disguised modern powertrain.

In a similar vein, you’d bet the farm that Robert Gorgievski’s XW Falcon is just another GT tribute with a stock 351, but the engine is actually a Dandy Engines-built, 670hp, 434ci stonker.

Dean Trounson’s HR Holden proves that sixes can go hard too, with a Weber-fed red Holden six that stomps out an impressive 280hp. With three pedals and suspension and braking systems aimed at spirited driving, it’s a cool pro tourer with an old-school heart.

On top of all those beaut feature cars, we’ll also take you through the installation of Haltech’s innovative Nexus R5 VCU in our Carnage VS ute build, and bring you all the goings-on from Northern Nats and the Hot Rod & Custom Auto Expo.
