Street Machine September 2026 issue on sale now!

The September issue of Street Machine is heading out to retailers right now! Here’s
a sneak peek.
We love big coupes and we cannot lie. The September issue of Street Machine
features Rob Giangrave’s Godzilla-powered Landau coupe on the cover, with its big-
booty rear positioned front and centre. If that fat-fendered butt doesn’t get your blood
pumping, then maybe the 1000hp+ Harrop-blown donk will excite you. Either way,
it’s an amazing build that you definitely need to check out.
Speaking of blowers, Luke Swift’s LS-powered LC GTR coupe is also packing a
Harrop pump, which helps it make 640rwhp on E85. That’s plenty of power to point
the nose of this bright green Torana skywards at a moment’s notice – and wait until
you see the Houndstooth inserts in the seats! Yep, it’s a beautiful little car.
How could we possibly follow up two magnificent supercharged streeters? With
another blown car, of course! This one ain’t a streeter though; Frank Zammit’s 8/71-
blown 2017 Mustang is destined for the burnout pad, and it’s one of the most
impressive-looking skid cars we’ve seen in years. The black-as-night machine rocks
a Westend Performance-built blown Windsor, and Frank is hoping it’ll give him the
same kind of success on the burnout pad that he’s had in the kickboxing ring.
We take a trip down memory lane and look back at the impact that the VL
Commodore has had on the scene since its introduction 40 years ago. The VL was
one of the most controversial Commodores ever made, with its Nissan RB30
powerplant and the infamous HDT Energy Polariser that ended Peter Brock’s close
relationship with Holden. Some of the toughest street machines in the country have
been built around the VL platform, so our retrospective will evoke a few memories for
sure.
Street Machine also heads north to Queensland check out the second Allstars Drag
& Drive event, where some of the toughest street-and-strip cars in the country went
head-to-head over three days. There were some impressive performances and
massive records broken, but you’ll have to grab a copy of the magazine for the full
who, what, why and how.

If drag racing isn’t your thing, that’s okay, as we’ve also got Willy Armstrong’s VF
Valiant ute, which made a massive splash at Meguiar’s MotorEx 2026. Slammed into
the weeds, this hay hauler has been transformed from a literal farm truck into a
trophy winner, and everyone was talking about it after MotorEx. It wasn’t debuted or
unveiled there, either; Willy just showed up with his amazing ute, and then drove it
home, which makes it even more amazing. Check it out!
And while we’re on the subject of amazing yet subtle cars, how about Duke Zec’s
25th Anniversary HQ Premier? It’s been featured in the Summernats Elite Hall,
despite not being built as an Elite-level trophy magnet. You will just love the interior
in this classic Quey; it’s a perfect mix of show and go.
For those who like their rides on the smaller side, we’ve got a killer Datsun 1200 ute
powered by a 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost four-pot! With pumped guards, fat rims and
bright orange paint, it makes a statement wherever it goes, and fans of little Dattos
are going to love this crazy pocket rocket.
If you haven’t had your fill of V8s, Graham Broome’s HR Holden is a classically
styled beast with a modern LS powerplant. When his health started failing him, a
bunch of Graham’s mates banded together to get his dream build over the line. The
result is one sweet ride and a story that will bring a tear to your eye.
And that’s just the main features in this month’s mag! We’ve also got a tech article
on 3D scanning that shows what’s involved in designing your own parts; a look back
at Bob Pinnell’s legendary V8 Capri; a wild little Morris bread van built for drifting;
